Properties of nickel
Nickel is a silvery white metal with hard quality. Nickel has excellent corrosion resistance, good mechanical properties, mechanical properties and welding properties.  Nickel can be slowly dissolved in dilute hydrochloric acid, dilute sulfuric acid and dilute nitric acid, but its surface is passivated in fuming nitric acid.
Nickel-based alloy refers to a kind of alloy with high strength and certain comprehensive properties such as oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance at 650~1000℃.  In order to solve the problem of strong corrosiveness, nickel-based superalloys are often used in chemical plants, which are referred to as nickel-based alloys for short.  Representative materials include Incoloy alloy, Inconel alloy, Hastelloy alloy and Monel alloy.
Nickel-based corrosion-resistant alloys mostly have austenite structure.  In the state of solid solution and aging treatment, the austenite matrix and grain boundary of the alloy still have intermetallic phase and carbonitride of metal. Various corrosion resistant alloys are classified by composition and their characteristics are as follows:
1. Incoloy alloy, such as Incoloy800, mainly consists of 32Ni-21Cr-Ti-Al;  Belonging to heat-resistant alloy;
2. Hastelloy alloy, i.e. Hastelloy alloy, such as Hastelloy C-276, mainly consists of 56Ni-16Cr-16Mo-4W;  Belonging to corrosion resistant alloy;
3. Monel alloy, namely Monel alloy, such as Monel 400, mainly consists of 65Ni-34Cu;;  It belongs to corrosion resistant alloy.
